Adam Smith was elected as a Reform UK councillor for Hackleton and Roade on West Northamptonshire Council in May 2025. The party suspended the whip in early June 2025, citing what it described as "a number of concerns regarding the conduct of councillor Adam Smith". He was subsequently expelled from the party group and listed as an independent, before resigning his council seat amid the fallout.
