Paul Thomas was elected as a Reform UK councillor in Kent in May 2025 and was suspended before being expelled in October 2025, among a group of councillors removed after a leaked video of the council leader. The party alleged dishonest behaviour by those involved. He later joined Restore Britain with six other former Reform UK councillors in Kent to form a new group on the county council. The councillors have disputed the party's characterisation of their conduct.
