On 21 November 2025 Nathan Gill was sentenced at the Old Bailey to ten and a half years' imprisonment for eight counts of bribery. The Crown Prosecution Service said he took around £40,000 in payments between 2018 and 2019 in exchange for tabling motions, delivering speeches and facilitating media access for individuals linked to pro-Russian interests. Bethan David, Head of Counter Terrorism at the CPS, said the case "strikes at the heart of democratic integrity" and that Gill had admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong. The Metropolitan Police said inquiries into whether other individuals committed offences were continuing.

On 26 September 2025 Nathan Gill, the former leader of Reform UK and UKIP in Wales, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to eight counts of bribery under the Bribery Act 2010, committed between 6 December 2018 and 18 July 2019 while he was a Member of the European Parliament for Wales. The court heard he was tasked on at least eight occasions by Oleg Voloshyn, a former member of the Ukrainian parliament for a pro-Russian party whom the United States later sanctioned, to make specific statements in return for money. These included speeches in the European Parliament, statements to a television channel and arranging an event with a politician close to Moscow.

BBC Wales reported that counter-terrorism officers stopped Nathan Gill at Manchester Airport on 13 September 2021, two days before he was due to speak at a conference in Moscow. Messages recovered from his phone, including WhatsApp exchanges with Oleg Voloshyn, formed the basis of the later bribery prosecution. One message indicated he would be "fairly rewarded" for organising a European Parliament event for Viktor Medvedchuk, a close associate of Vladimir Putin. Scotland Yard said Gill had been "peddling narratives beneficial towards Russian interests".
