A regional North East investigation has reported fresh allegations about Barry Elliott's business affairs. Companies House documents show he has owned or run nine firms since 2011 that are in liquidation or have been dissolved, and those businesses owed a combined £6m, including approximately £3m to Elliott himself; the firms also owed HM Revenue and Customs a combined £234,108. One former client, Rebecca Brown, says a care home operator previously owned by Elliott was ordered by a court to reimburse almost £20,000 after overcharging her grandparents, but the business entered voluntary liquidation before she was reimbursed. Elliott did not respond to specific allegations; in a statement he said he had been advised not to speak because of police investigations he had reported to them, and the investigating outlet said it found no evidence of any live proceedings that would prevent him answering questions.
