Helen Jenner celebrated the Welsh flag on the 'world stage' and attacked 'net stupid zero'

Category: inflammatory language

Helen Jenner celebrated "y ddraig goch flying on the world stage" and called on the Welsh Government to scrap what she described as "net stupid zero", accusing the First Minister of having a "dodgy ideology". Her remarks were criticised and mocked by Rhun ap Iorwerth, who pointed to the irony of celebrating the Welsh flag while other Reform colleagues had argued Wales should end international engagement; the exchange followed Reform MS David Mills describing international relations as an "indulgence" and citing £58 million without specifying what it funded. Iain McIntosh later sought a correction to the Senedd record and accused some members of merging the Welsh flag with the Palestinian flag.

Helen Jenner named among senior Reform UK figures in Wales reported to be following the anti-migrant group Voice of Wales

Category: social media conduct

An investigation published by Nation.Cymru on 6 August 2026 reported that senior Reform UK figures in Wales, including then deputy Welsh leader Helen Jenner, were following the Swansea-based anti-migrant group Voice of Wales on Facebook. The report said other Reform Members of the Senedd and several official party branch accounts followed the same page. Nation.Cymru described Voice of Wales as having faced condemnation and platform bans over racist and anti-migrant content, and reported that its founders are associates of Tommy Robinson. The investigation concerned accounts followed and content amplified; it did not report that Jenner posted such material herself, and she has not been accused of any offence.

Helen Jenner refused five times to say Arron Banks should apologise over a "Welsh lad?" post, then reversed her position on hearing Farage had called for an apology

Location: Wales

BBC Wales and S4C reported that, in a Newyddion S4C interview on 29 April 2026, Reform UK's then deputy Welsh leader Helen Jenner declined five opportunities to say that party donor Arron Banks should apologise for a post responding to a Plaid Cymru video fronted by a black community organiser from Butetown, in which Banks wrote "Welsh lad?". Plaid Cymru's Westminster leader Liz Saville Roberts said the post suggested Banks believed black people could not be Welsh; Banks said his comment was a joke. Jenner initially said she had no control over what Banks said and questioned whether it was a joke. After being told during the same interview that Nigel Farage had said Banks should apologise, she changed her position and said an apology should be made.
