David Cumming was elected as a Reform UK councillor in Durham in May 2025 and resigned his seat around the turn of the year to take up a job overseas, triggering a by-election. Reports at the time noted that his attendance in the period before his departure was around 20 per cent. Reform UK has not published a response to the attendance figures.
