Stuart Prior was expelled by Reform UK and resigned his seats on both Essex County Council and Rochford District Council after being accused, in the week before polling day on 7 May 2026, of creating racist and Islamophobic posts on social media. The allegations related to material attributed to his social media accounts and were reported shortly before the elections. Reform UK removed him from the party, and he has not published a detailed response to the claims.
