Category: hate speech
Derek Bullock, Reform UK’s candidate for Hulton ward on Bolton Council, has been documented making multiple anti‑Muslim remarks on social media and was expelled twice from the Conservative Party for Islamophobia. The first expulsion followed his sharing of an article about the politician Sayeeda Warsi with the comment “She’s been a cuckoo in the nest!”. The second followed a reaction to the Manchester Arena bombing in which he posted “Shoot the Pakis on the spot.” Bullock said that the latter post was fake; he was expelled in 2023 and stood as an independent the following year.
Bullock encouraged Muslims to join ISIS to "re-balance" the population
Category: offensive
Derek Bullock, a Reform UK candidate, is reported not to have denied calling Baroness Warsi "a cuckoo in the nest", describing the rise in the number of British Muslim children as a "ticking clock", supporting the English Democrats, or writing that Muslims should join ISIS to "re-balance" the population. He denies authoring a separate Facebook post about shooting a racial slur, saying that post was fake, but was expelled from the Conservative Party in 2023 over the wider pattern. The remarks were surfaced in HOPE not hate's 30 April 2026 report "60 Reasons (and Counting) to Not Vote Reform on May 7th", which documented Reform UK candidates whose public statements had already generated significant concern. Reform stood him for the 7 May 2026 elections despite claiming its vetting was "the best in the country".
