Ken Tranter shared posts comparing Muslims to cockroaches after apologising for a "non-white persons" post

Category: discriminatory remark

Days after his election to Hampshire County Council, Ken Tranter apologised for a Facebook post calling for police action over "non-white persons taking over" public gardens, describing it as a "poor choice of words" that was "open to misinterpretation as racist". Byline Times then reported further posts on his Facebook account. On 5 May 2026, just before the election, he shared a meme pairing a cockroach with an image of two Muslim men holding a Palestinian flag, captioned "Neglect your country, and this will take over". In April 2026 he shared at least two versions of a meme showing a large Muslim family captioned "they breed, you pay". Older posts reported by Byline Times include a "joke" mocking brown benefit claimants, an "Aspirin Tax" meme, "White Pride Month" content and posts dismissing slavery reparations. Green Party deputy leader Mothin Ali and Stand Up To Racism Rushmoor called for action against him. Byline Times reported that Tranter and Reform UK did not respond to requests for comment.
