Michael Rees (councillor, Gloucestershire) defects to Restore Britain

Category: other

Michael Rees (councillor, Gloucestershire) left Reform UK and joined Restore Britain, taking the Cam Valley seat at Gloucestershire County Council into the new party. He said the move followed dissatisfaction with Reform UK leadership and that Restore Britain better represented his values. Reform UK said it was disappointed and said his decision betrayed residents and volunteers who had helped elect him. Rees said he was disappointed but not surprised and noted the party had accepted defections in the past, while Liberal Democrat county leader Lisa Spivey said the move added to a pattern of instability; the council now includes one Restore Britain representative.
