Tim Montgomerie suspended after publicly criticising senior Reform UK figures

Category: inappropriate behaviour

Tim Montgomerie publicly criticised senior Reform UK figures in media interviews and on a podcast, expressing frustration with Nigel Farage's tone and saying senior party figure Zia Yusuf needed to be more of a team player. Reform UK suspended his party membership under its rules for public criticism. Montgomerie said he would appeal the suspension and intended the case to test whether the party tolerates free speech and dissent. The party said the suspension was implemented in line with its rules. Montgomerie, who defected from the Conservatives and described himself as a critical friend of the leadership, said he wanted to remain in Reform UK and would fight to retain his membership.
