Questions over racist social posts linked to council leader

Questions were raised after social media posts linked to Ian Cooper allegedly targeted public figures and migrants with racist language. It was reported that he called the London mayor a “narcissistic Pakistani” and said migrants were “intent on colonising the UK, destroying all that has gone before”. A Reform UK spokesperson said that, following an investigation into undeclared social media accounts during candidate vetting, Cooper’s membership of Reform UK has been revoked, and he is no longer leader of Staffordshire County Council. Cooper has not responded to the allegations.
