Category: party management issue

Location: Lichfield, Staffordshire

Reform UK confirmed on 22 September 2026 that Cllr Matthew Wallens, who was elected for the party in the Lichfield City North division of Staffordshire County Council, had been suspended from the party "pending investigation". He is now listed as an independent member, and Lichfield District Council confirmed he also sits as an independent for the Curborough ward. Reform UK did not set out the reasons for the suspension and Cllr Wallens had not commented at the time of reporting. A suspension pending investigation is not a finding of wrongdoing. He was the second Reform UK councillor in Lichfield to be suspended in the same week, following Cllr Dean Robertson of Lichfield City Council.
